Call for papers for the session: Feminist geopolitics for a new world (without war)

“When Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallström announced the world’s first feminist foreign policy in 2014, her idea was met with suspicion. Fast forward to now – eight years on – and we can only salute pioneers like Sweden, Canada and Mexico for the impressive road they have carved out for us to follow. I am proud that my government is the first German government to pursue a feminist foreign policy” (Speech from Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock 13 April 2022).
Feminist foreign policy has come out of its niche, out of being ridiculed and laughed about and turned into a corner stone of international policies – at least in a number of nation-states. The war in Ukraine, feminicides in Mexico or the consequent prosecution of war rape as a violation of human rights by the International Court of Justice in The Hague are all examples, why a feminist take on national and international politics are urgently needed. In this session, we want to invite researchers and activists to present work situated in the fields of feminist political geographies and feminist geopolitics to consider both the potential and the challenges of a feminist approach to (geo)politics.
Please submit your abstract (including creative inputs) to the Swiss Geoscience Meeting Platform https://geoscience-meeting.ch/sgm2022/abstracts/abstract-submission-form/ indicating your choice for the symposium “Human Geographies: Bodies, Cultures, Societies” until 31 August 2022 (I’m sure there will be an extension of the deadline;).

"Know your resources and priorities: Think about the tasks for which you can and want to take responsibility […] Think about it: To whom or what do you say yes? Can this promise be fulfilled within the scope of your possibilities? Taking on a task for which you have no time or resources will bring neither you nor your team any added value“ (Better Science Initiative Switzerland<https://betterscience.ch/en/calls-to-action/#/>).
