<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family:"Cambria",serif">The challenges the Covid pandemic has posed especially for researchers with pre-existing conditions, in precarious employment, or with caring responsibilities has so far received comparatively
scant attention. Junior researchers in the doctoral and post-doctoral phases have been particularly affected. While their employment contracts and doctoral fellowships remain fixed term (and often non-extendable), young scholars struggle to collect the data
they need for the completion of their projects. As a result, some of them have had to––sometimes fundamentally––redraft research designs and try out new methodologies. Many of us are spread-thin between working from home, postponed interview schedules, and
closed libraries. The feeling of being overworked and having no real boundaries between our work and personal lives has set in.

the workshop, you can briefly describe examples from your own research projects. In the second part we will go into break-out sessions to discuss several of these cases. In these smaller groups we can help each other out and brainstorm some possible solutions.
We hope to facilitate an exchange about research practice of junior researchers in the pandemic, some possible strategies for collective problem-solving and for moving forward. Importantly, we also want the space to be inclusive for sharing negative examples
of failures and roadblocks.
