Dear colleagues,

As some of you might know, the Urban Studies unit at the University of Basel has been under intense media scrutiny and institutional investigation for the past months. Please consider here<https://forms.gle/JyeHFxfaKmfQEr5r9> this open letter that non-professorial teaching staff members at the University of Basel and a group of PhD students of Urban Studies have written. The letter has been written in the spirit of providing a fact-based articulation of their experience regarding the media campaign against this unit over the past four months and out of concern for the state of academic freedom at the University of Basel and beyond.

Your signatures are very wellcome, as well as your sharing the letter with other people who would like to express their solidarity with us and concern for the protection of academic freedom. Due to our experience with the tactics of Swiss media, we would be grateful if you could not share it via social media channels, please.
