Three editorial openings at Geographica Helvetica

We are seeking to appoint three new editors at Geographica Helvetica with
expertise in one or more of the following fields: (critical) GIS, political
ecology, rural and economic geography as well as qualitative and mixed
methods.

Geographica Helvetica (GH) publishes contributions in all fields of
geography as well as in related neighboring disciplines. The journal
provides a platform for the development of an informed, creative and
cosmopolitan geography. Building upon the specificity of Swiss geography as
a meeting ground for different languages and regional traditions in
geography, the GH aims at fostering the circulation of ideas across the
confines of German, French, Italian and English language geographies and at
stimulating cross-border theoretical debates that overcome Eurocentric
perspectives. Please consult our <https://www.geographica-helvetica.net/>
website for further information on the journal's aims and scope.

Responsibilities: Along with the existing editorial collective, the new GH
editors will be responsible for the overall running of the journal and for
steering the future of the journal through the conceptualization and
organization of Themes Issues and conference-based plenary lectures, and
other initiatives that support GH’s aims and scope. Typically, each editor
handles between 5 and 15 articles per year and co-edits one or two Themed
Issues. While we support each other in the process, this implies being
responsible for her or his share of articles, including selecting and
recruiting referees, managing the revision process, making acceptance
decisions and facilitating the production process. Additionally, the editor
will work collaboratively with the existing Editorial Team and attend around
two online and one face-to-face meetings per year, to make collective
decisions on Themed Issues, commission work, and shape the journal's
editorial line.

Appointments: Editors are appointed for renewable four-year terms. They do
not receive compensation for their labor. Priority will be given to
researchers who are underrepresented, speak at least one of the three main
Swiss languages, German, French, and/or Italian, as well as English and have
publication experience and/or a strong vision for GH. Given the large share
of German articles GH publishes, German language speakers are most welcome
to apply. Moreover, we cherish mutual support, commitment and
professionalism. Being based at a Swiss institution is not a precondition.

Applications: If you are interested in applying, please submit a 2-page CV,
a brief motivation letter specifying your field of expertise and main
geographical area of research, including the regional focus of your work (no
more than 1 page) and a publication list to Corinne Wyss (
<mailto:corinne.wyss at geo.uzh.ch> corinne.wyss at geo.uzh.ch) until April 1st,
2022. Please direct informal inquiries to Hanna Hilbrandt (
<mailto:hanna.hilbrandt at geo.uzh.ch> hanna.hilbrandt at geo.uzh.ch).
