Call for book chapter proposals

We would like to cordially invite abstract proposals for book chapters
for a forthcoming book titled:

Rethinking Urban Transformations: a New Paradigm for Inclusive Cities

Editors: Nebojša Čamprag (TU Darmstadt), Lauren Ugur (Heilbronn
University of Applied Sciences), Anshika Suri (TU Darmstadt)
Book publisher: Springer (www.springer.com), Springer Series “Diversity
and Inclusion Research”
Publication is anticipated for spring 2023.

During the last decades, cities are increasingly being confronted with
extensive and rapidly progressing socio-political, economic,
environmental, and many other challenges that have required significant
adaptations of urban systems. These transformative processes are also
often characterized by uncontrolled trajectories that create numerous
power-related and socio-spatial inequalities, highlighting the values of
social inclusion and diversity being often compromised in urban
development endeavors. This book plans to take a step further in
understanding urban transformation processes through investigating the
selected aspects of inclusion and diversity and their manifestation in
wider urban spatial contexts. In order to address the complexity of the
topic, this will be done through diverse research with trans- and
interdisciplinary approaches. Chapters proposed may address (but are not
limited to) one or more aspects or sub-aspects of the following topics:

- alternatives to growth as the emerging paradigm for sustainable urban
transformation,
- transformation of cities through inclusive tourism development processes,
- diversification of urban identities through de-contestation of urban
heritage, and
- inclusive socio-spatial perspective on intersectional city-making
practices/policies.

Contributors that deal with these and related issues from a variety of
perspectives are warmly welcomed. Chapters may take a range of forms,
may be empirically based or conceptually, may focus on different levels
of analysis, and may be based on quantitative and qualitative
approaches. The final aim of the book is to inspire exchange between
different aspects of transdisciplinary research, thus inspiring
paradigms with holistic approach in (re)conceptualising and promoting
inclusive and sustainable urban transformative processes in both urban
theory and praxis.
